Customer Reviews

Dr. Bronner s: A Perfectly Clean Soap StoryI have used Dr. Bronner s Peppermint Castile Soap since 1970 and since never bought any other soap for bathing! For shower I mix 10 parts soap to 1 part water so squeeze bottle won t clog. Foams up great on a wash cloth or sponge. For foamer dispenser by the bathroom sink mix 10 parts water to 1 part soap and I use it for hands, face and every morning to brush my teeth. I keep a small squirt bottle by the kitchen sink with 10 parts water to 1 part soap mixture for any number of cleaning applications, especially to wash vegetables. I love the invigorating tingle and exhilarating scent of this most wonderful emulsifying soap. After 48 years Dr. Bronner s gets my recommendation to clean hundreds of dirty, sticky or greasy items indoors and out.5My favorite soap has become unacceptable.I have been a user of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint liquid soap since 1977, but I will cease purchasing Dr. Bronner's products. The last gallon I purchased was diluted from previous purchases. Diluted Dr. Bronner's soap is no longer worthy of its price. Will not spend more money for less product. Will purchase peppermint soap from another seller.1The Best Everything SoapWe use diluted amounts of this product in our hand soap dispensers (foaming pumps work really well) in our house. If you dilute it to a champagne color, you will not suffer clogs and a little will last you a long time. I also use this for face cleanser, shampoo, and body wash. The peppermint "flavor" is a nice, refreshing feeling, but the first time you use it on your sensitive parts, you will notice it. After several times, you'll be fine. I actually prefer the citrus "flavor" for my facial cleanser, but I have used both for everything. There are no harsh ingredients and it does the job.You can't go wrong with this stuff. Getting a gallon at a time is the way to go, too, if you have the storage space for it. It's the best deal for your buck.5ExcellentI was pissed when I bought a smaller $15 bottle and my guest used it all in 3 DAYS! so I bought this huge bottle. I like this product because while its fine to use as is, when the bottle is half empty, I dilute it with %50 water and it works exactly the same and just as good. The peppermint is strong. Great if you have dreadlocks because other shampoos might require a full bottle of another shampoo if dreads are long. This soap has longevity but sensitive enough for all skin types. No it's not moisturizing, it's more a clean refreshing peppermint soap that clears your nasal and makes you feel refreshed. You need very little of this soap. I suggest using with a loofah sponge5Dr. Bronner's ROCKS!There is nothing better than smelling peppermint on all of our clean clothes, in our bathroom, and throughout our house - we use this soap for nearly everything! I wash clothes with it in an HE machine and it's perfectly fine. I scrub our tumbled marble tile in the bathroom and it elevates my mood so much I don't actually mind cleaning that room. I use it to wash our floors, scrub our sinks, clean my cabinet fronts, wipe down our lawn furniture - essentially everywhere that I would need a soap product to clean it where I use this product. There are many other scents and you can also buy bar soap for the shower (we love the tea tree oil bar soap best or the lavender one for the kiddos) and if your kids ever get lice, I strongly suggest you get a bottle of the tea tree oil castile soap for their heads (after you get rid of the lice it will help keep those buggers away!).5Bronners is the bestIf you're looking for a natural soap free of synthetic crap, then use Dr. Bronner's. I've been using the peppermint Bronner's for years and stand by it. A tiny bit foams up a great deal, and it rinses cleanly and easily. Bronner's has a bit of a runny consistency, so be careful when pouring or squirting some out of a bottle because you'll get a lot more than you need. What's great about Bronner's is that you can use it for everything. Bathe with it, shampoo your hair, do your dishes, wash your clothes while traveling, clean out your kid's potty mouth, you name it, and Bronner's will do the trick.5Best soap on the marketI discovered Dr Bronner's soap a few years back, and have never gone back to bars of soap or other liquids. I like the clean feeling, the texture, and the way it makes me feel. Especially peppermint. At first it felt really strong, and I had to dilute it with the unscented version, but I soon got used to full-strength peppermint and really enjoy the refreshing experience. I always buy the gallon size because you save so much money. I just pour it into one of the 16-ounce bottles to make it easy to handle. As far as I'm concerned, Dr. Bronner's Peppermint is the best soap on the market.5It does almost everything - and it's safe, fair trade, organic - jack of all trades!I remember this stuff from my childhood. I've heard it referred to as "hippy soap". I remember the "peppermint tingle". However, it wasn't until 3 months ago that I actually bought my own. I decided to replace my chemical-laden hygiene products with safer ones - relying on the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep database to guide me to a better place. There were quite a few items that needed to be investigated...I was looking for a price I could afford, high reviews, and low scores on EWG's Skin Deep. So I found body wash, soap, shampoo, dish rinse, laundry detergent, toothpaste...and then I found Dr. Bronners...one product to handle all those tasks. It sure made things easier!Just think about how all of those products are going on your skin at some point...and then being absorbed...multiple times a day, every day, for years...the bombardment of toxic chemicals is crazy and once you start thinking about it you realize how ridiculous our culture has become with no oversight whatsoever.Dr. Bronner's carries "Champion Status" at the Environmental Working Group's website that ranks products based on their danger/toxicity. This means they have signed a pledge to use only the safest ingredients in all their products. On a scale of 0-10 (0 being the safest), this product scores a 1. I think if you averaged the scores of all the products I have replaced with it, you'd get about a 5.I now buy it by the gallon and have just purchased my second one (3 months later). Do the math and I think my girlfriend and I will go through about 4 gallons a year with all the uses mentioned here. UPDATE: Maybe down to 2 gallons/year now that I use Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds as my laundry detergent instead.DILUTE DILUTE DILUTEBody Wash: The standard dilution here of about 20% soap to 80% water works fine. You can adjust to your liking/lather preferences. I had been using a Dial foaming hand soap in all my rooms and I've emptied those, cleaned them real good, and converted them to Dr. Bronner's foaming dispensers. I love the results. It foams up real good and the lather is good. If you want more, just up the strength (reduce dilution) a little bit. You may find this leaves a little "tingle" in certain spots that will be extra-noticeable with cold water/air - you may enjoy this or not...either way it's certainly not a big deal and you do get used to it. The other thing to get used to is that you won't have that slimy feeling on your skin that we've probably learned to associate with being clean. That's just the chemicals on your body...Hand Soap: Using the same dilution (20/80) and re-purposed foaming bottles, I keep this in all bathrooms as hand soap. Not much to say here and people compliment me on the smell of my soap...even if they wonder what the heck it is!Dish Rinse: Once again I go with about 20/80 in a squire bottle in my kitchen. You'll be surprised how well it cleans. When you start seeing the bubbles/lather reduce, squirt a little more and keep going. Remember you're never going to get that insane never-ending foam/lather without the harsh chemicals, but you'll be surprised with how well it does on its own. I do find that if I wash something and don't rinse it off fairly quickly it leaves behind a little oil that is most noticeable on metallic items...but it's organic and safe...and if you just run your sponge over it real quick and rinse, it's gone. Not a problem at all.Floor Cleaner: Here I dilute it down to like 5% soap, 95% water. It doesn't leave any residue and cleans up nicely - the smell is good too...and it's nice to know I'm not just filling the air with chemical fragrances than can linger in my home for days.Shampoo: I keep some in a bottle at full strength and pour about a teaspoon in my hand, rub together a little, then put it in my hair and clean as usual...you probably need more if you don't have short guy hair like me. I might try to dilute this to 50% only because at full strength it likes to clog the little opening of the bottle with dried soap. It cleans my hair well and I follow it up with Dr. Bronner - Organic Shikakai Conditioner Hair Rinse, 8 fl oz liquid. My girlfriend's hair did not appreciate this method as much as mine did and so I've switcher her over to Yes to Cucumbers (or Yes to Carrots) shampoo and conditioner which is great as well!Laundry Detergent: I keep a gallon in my laundry room and put about 1/3 cup for an average large load. I adjust up or down depending on the size. I augment it with some baking soda which is really cheap. At ~$50 per gallon this is more expensive than your typical Tide chemical gallon but once you factor in that you don't really need (or I don't, at least) fabric softener, the price difference is not as large. If you wash with the chemicals you have them on your skin all day long...every time you sweat they're soaking into your skin...no thanks. UPDATE: I switched to Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds. Seems to be a bit more effective and less costly...albeit not quite as organic.Toothpaste: this is the only other time I use the product at full strength - and I may well dilute it a little soon. I like about 3 drops on my wet toothbrush. I know what you're thinking "eww, soap in my mouth?!" I'm not sure how the other scents would work but with peppermint, I had no problem with it. With just the three drops, it foams up quickly and feels and tastes clean. Brush as normal but one warning: don't take forever. Peppermint oil, especially at full strength, can burn your skin a little if left on too long. I find that if I brush for about 1 minute it's not a problem at all. Two minutes and my mouth is a little burnt - but it's not the end of the world and heals overnight. This is why I am considering going with a 1:1 ratio of soap to water and using like 6-10 drops. UPDATE: I switched to Tom's of Maine for toothpaste mostly for the convenience of not having to make my own.5Freaking love this soap!Love Dr. Bronners soap SO MUCH!!!I tend to deal with a lot of chemical sensitivities and am so thankful for this soap! No bad stuff in it, just pure and any scent you get is from essential oils, not chemicals. I use this for practically everything from dishes to laundry to house cleaning and for personal use as well on my skin and my boyfriend uses it as shampoo.Have tried every scent and the unscented and love them all!Ones I tend to gravitate towards most is the Peppermint, rose and almond. Uuuuuugh! The almond smells almost like a beautiful desert! The aromatherapy with this soap is beautiful! I can wash dishes and do chores and feel happy because it s like aromatherapy as I clean. And everything you clean with this ends up super shiny and sparkling!Oooooh! Prettyyyyy!I usually get the gallon bottle and refill the smaller Dr.Bronners bottles with it. Sturdy bottles too! For laundry, I just fill a travel size Dr.Bronners bottle with soap and put it in! Your clothes feel softer and almost more relaxed, like it s kind to the fibers.Love this soap so much!5Best soap on the market! I was thrilled to find this on Amazon! I have used this soap for about 30 years! Bathing in this soap results in a totally clean feeling on the skin and doesn't leave a soap film on the skin as other soaps typically do. Additionally, I bathe my dogs with the peppermint soap and it ALWAYS kills any live fleas and helps to repel them. Read the label and note the multitude of various uses! I would never use any other soap! I received my order promptly and well padded, so no leaks! Appreciated the follow-up email from them also, letting me know they are available for any questions or concerns I may have. Great company from which to order! 5Great Soap A favorite. The mint is ideal for regular floor scrubbing and can even be used in a carpet shampooer but use cautiously as it is concentrated. I use this every week for scrubbing my floors with four dogs stinking up the house! Scent dissipates in a couple hours but may initially be too strong for some people or small children. 5Best product ever for cleansingI've been using Dr. Bronner's liquid peppermint castile soap for at least 25 years. Best product ever for cleansing. It does not sting the eyes or dry out skin. I've used it to deter small flying pests from my indoor plants (follow the instructions very carefully!). I keep a bar of Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap in my travel bag when I travel by air so that I don't get the liquid confiscated by airport security. Great seller, great product. Highly recommended.5I also use an insulin pump and I believe that washing the insertion site for my feed helps to keep my skin pretty oil free and dirt free to facilitate insertion of ... I use it as my go-to body soap and shampoo. I have very oily straight hair and it gets my hair really clean and shiny. I also use an insulin pump and I believe that washing the insertion site for my feed helps to keep my skin pretty oil free and dirt free to facilitate insertion of the my insulin feed. Oily soaps would not work as well since the tape would not adhere very well. More importantly it is not so strong that it dries out my skin. 5
