    Made Us Start Having Extreme Itchy Scalp :( I really really was hoping that this shampoo would work for my family, especially after all the great reviews. We started having "itchy scalp" after using a variety of natural shampoos. First, we tried using Dr. Bronner's Soap for shampoo since that is our everyday soap anyways, but that did not help our itchy scalp at all. We even used it for months hoping our scalp would adjust, but it never did. Next, we tried this shampoo and it resulted in extreme itchy scalp and then we started having large dandruff flakes. We also used this shampoo for several weeks giving it time to hopefully start working, but the itching became unbearable. This shampoo only made our problems worse. Before having to give in and use Head and Shoulders, we tried Honeydew All Natural Dandruff Shampoo for Kids and finally found relief. After using Honeydew for only a week, all of our itching and dandruff have cleared up. I would say it's worth giving Maple Holistics a try since it obviously works well for many people. However, if you are like us and this doesn't give you any relief, try Honeydew All Natural Dandruff Shampoo! 1how could a company with "holistic" in its name put this crap in their product? BS!!! BEWARE!!! made me itch like crazy so I figured well ok it was a dud for my head so i tried using it as a body wash and it makes my skin on my body itch too. :( dries out my skin really bad and leaves something behind that itches like crazy. I don't have any allergies- been tested thoroughly by dermatologist so i wondered what was is in this stuff that made me itch so bad?For something that says "non-sensitizing", "holistic", "hypoallergenic", and "natural" on it it sure does have a bunch of long words in the ingredients so i looked them up:Cocamidopropyl betaine, Triethanolamine and Cocamide DEA/MEA (and all the ingredients that end in DEA or MEA ): these ingredients are contaminated by nitrosamines, a chemical known to have cancer-causing risks to humans named in the Proposition 65 list;Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate... is linked to organ-system toxicity (the American College of Toxicology reported that one or more animal studies showed broad systemic effects at high doses), although the EWG notes lesser concerns regarding this side effect, and ultimately finds it to be a low hazard ingredient.Acrylates copolymer* A general term for copolymers of two or more monomers consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or one of their simple esters.... Animal tests have also shown it to be harmful if come into contact with the skin and/or eyes. The International Journal of Toxicology said in 2002 that it was carcinogenic when applied at a concentration of 21% to the skin of C3H mice but added that the levels that would be found in cosmetic formulations are not considered to present a safety risk (source). The FDA permits it to be used as an indirect food additive. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert panel reviewed the data surrounding the safety of this ingredient and dermined it as safe to use in OTC personal care products. Purchased this item for my husband hoping it would help him with his dandruff. It's been 2 months now and this shampoo has not done any difference whatsoever. Very disappointed, I had high hopes for it considering it had very good reviews. But it did not accomplish what it says it will do for dandruff. I wanted to give this shampoo the benefit of the doubt because all the positive reviews. I have been dealing with dandruff for years now. Have tried a lot of things and seen the good experiences people have had with this one I gave ti a shot. I like the smell, it is a bit "woody/earthy". While it does leave the hair feeling a bit rough, the conditioner smells nice and fixes that.Yet for my dandruff...it has gotten so much worse since I started using this shampoo. I have breakouts in a matter of hours. By the next day my dandruff looks like I haven't washed in a week. I thought I was doing something wrong and just needed to use it for longer. But after a month I just bought a different shampoo and this is going on the trash. 1Results took time I tried this to deal with a moderate but persistent dandruff problem. Frankly it was a shot in the dark because I had gone through a few other shampoos without success but was encouraged by the reviews. My initial results were not dramatic but I kept with it, adopting a twice-a-week routine. It has taken many weeks but I have reached a good place. My dandruff isn't non-existent but it is not a problem, and the itching is gone altogether. Lately I have been alternating the Sage with the Hydrate and that seems to be a good long-term combination. I also use a scalp massage brush in the shower afterwards. It is nice not to have dandruff and even nicer not to have to worry about it. 5Better than T-GEL! Just some background: I've been "diagnosed" with itchy scalp and a case of seborrhea with a rash at the base of my neck. Having tried T-Gel and a prescribed cream, I couldn't seem to get the rash and itchy scalp to stop. I was using the T-Gel shampoo almost every other day for about a year before I found this Sage Shampoo.I had been looking for something a bit more natural, without the warnings of "Avoid Sunlight" and "contains coal tar". I figured that couldn't be good as a long term solution and stumbled upon some reviews for this shampoo, and bought it on whim, willing to try anything.I've been using it for about six months now, and my oh my the results! The rash that I couldn't seem to shake is completely gone, and really only feel my scalp becoming itchy with multiple days between washes. This stuff relaxes my scalp and really reduces the amount of dandruff I'm seeing. I'd recommend this to anyone who struggled with itch scalp and flakey skin. This feels amazing on my hair, and has been perfect for my color treated hair. It doesn't strip out my bright red color that I was seeing with other shampoos.If I could give this a 10/5 star rating I would. I'm a customer for life. 5This shampoo worked for me!!! I am asian (Vietnamese american) and have had heavy dandruff growing up, which is really noticeable on my black hair. I live in san francisco, so we get random cold weather here. I tried so many things to help get rid of my dandruff but nothing worked. First, I bought head and shoulders, and it did nothing. Then, I went onto pinterest and tried rubbing coconut oil on my scalp, left it there for 3 hours before washing my hair. I did this for 3 days straight and did not really work. Third, I tried another suggestion on pinterest, which was to put apple cider vinegar on your scalp and let it soak in. STILL, apple cider vinegar did not work. After struggling with all of these, I almost gave up and this shampoo was my last resort. THANK GOD I bought this shampoo! After the first use, my dandruff situation became almost entirely better! I only saw a few flakes after 2 days. Then about after the third use, no more flakes!! I am now flake free! I was desperate to found a shampoo who could help me with my dandruff associate to my alopecia; besides my medicated shampoo. I saw the excellent reviews about this product and I decided to try it out. WOW!!! this shampoo really works. First use and I can see all the flakes falling from my scalp and my eyebrows. Second wash and completely gone. NO MORE FLAKES, NO MORE REDNESS, NO MORE ITCHINESS. I finally can go out without feeling embarrassed. I have curly hair and I wet alot my hair to be able to styled it every day and that will activate my dandruff and crusty flakes in my forehead instantly. But, not with this shampoo. Thank you so much for such an amazing product. 5Made my scalp and hair extremely dry My scalp was only slightly dry prior to using this shampoo. The very next day after using it my scalp was so dry and flakey as the shampoo completely strips all oils out. I tried using this shampoo exactly as directed on the bottle for about 3weeks, thinking that maybe my scalp and hair just needed some time to get used to it, but it just made my scalp horribly dry and flakey. It also stripped all the moisture out of my hair and made my hair very frizzy. Not a fan. 1Terrific Shampoo Terrific Shampoo Indeed. This is the 3rd variety of Maple Holistics shampoo I've tried, First was Tea Tree, wonderful, Next was Cedarwood, also wonderful, and now this Sage Product, which may be my favorite. Very nice consistency, creamy and moisturizing, not too strong. All of their products do exactly what they say they will, so you can't really make a bad decision... 5
